The Ultimate Operating System

A minimal Live CD, linux of course, that starts vmware.
Then you can use it to install whatever OS you want to the hard drive and switch between them at will. This would remove any problems with partitioning.
All documents and music or whatever could be put in an image file on the hard drive.Probably would need some custom coding to make it all seemless.
Maybe qemu with a text user interface like the freebsd installer would be better (lighter on the resources)
Of course hardware is getting faster all the time and one day an emulator will be faster than todays computers and this live cd would run just as smooth as a native install.
Please let me know if this idea has any merit.
