Hi,

Has anyone managed to install a full suite of simulation software on a single linux distribution.Unfortunately I'm a newbie to Linux and the installations have proven to be beyond my capabilities I get one or two to work independently but not all on one distribution.
I'd like to install Salomehttp://www.salome-platform.org/download,
Code-Aster http://www.code-aster.org/, and
OpenFOAM http://www.opencfd.co.uk/openfoam/download.html#download, But I can't seem to get everything to install correctly. I was using Vector Linux 5.0, and have tried PCLinuxOS (Live CD with Aster). Would anyone be willing to create a Live CD with Salome installed on a distibution that's compatible with the others. Configuring all of the components and installing compatible versions of gcc and python for example has been my biggest headache.

I'm not familiar with that software or any LiveCDs with it, but I'd try looking at the GIS LiveCDs, as the tend to include a lot of other mathematical/scientific packages along with the GIS stuff. Probably check Quantian first.
