List of Windows-based Projects

Postby nick » Mon Feb 23, 2004 7:02 pm

This list has been merged into the main LiveCD List here: http://www.livecdlist.com/index.php?pic ... sort=&sm=1

Because of licensing issues, Windows ISOs may never be legally free for download. That does not mean they are not available or popular, check out the Build-Your-Own post for the community development of Windows LiveCDs. This list will be for commerical versions.

Windows PE - http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/programs/sa/support/winpe.mspx
BartPE - http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

(if you want a free Live CD with FULL NTFS support, check out LinuxDefender http://www.bitdefender.com/bd/site/presscenter.php?menu_id=25&n_id=58)

This one doesnt really seem to fit anywhere, but it appears to be really useful. It's full of many different bootdisks, including a hard drive utils, dos boot disks, and a few linux ones.

Ultimate Boot CD - http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

Thought I'd mention this Live win98 CD at:

http://www.lachiesadicristo.it/w98cd/page1.htm

It's a make it yourself effort. Haven't tried it myself,
but have heard it's do-able

enjoy

Open Server

Postby Vetch » Fri Aug 13, 2004 7:29 pm

Hi,

I found a great Win NT live CD - it's a Dell server tool called Open Server, I believe... It's a rewritten version of NT OS to allow you to change their RAID hardware within a windows-type GUI as opposed to the crappy RAID BIOS type stuff - which lets face it is a bit old-skool these days...

I don't suppose it's readily availiable unless you buy a new server, but still - a nice tool if you can get it (although limited to Dell RAID)...

Does anyone know if there's a Linux Live CD that has a similar function - i.e. playing around with RAID drives and the like - presumably there's tools for it?

One could add this to the stuff running off of a live cd, OpenNT subsystem notes : http://www.uniforum.org/web/pubs/uninews/970701/Inews3.html
OpenSource NT (ReactOS) on live cd, e/os lx : http://www.eoslx.9k.com.ar/index2.htm
