Please add PCLinuxOS to this poll. I don't know of another live distro that ships with your choice of NVidia or ATI drivers.

Done :)

I believe GamesKnoppix has both, but I've only ever tried it with an Nvidia card...

I think, kanotix has the best hardware support: very easy to install ati and nvidia-driver for graphic-acceleration (with the help of special scripts of kano- if you start one of these scripts -> all necessary things are made for you :D), also: many drivers are ready for use for wlan and easy with ndiswrapper, easy for Fritz-Card (DSL, ISDN), ....
Only a few clicks- and all of your Hardware runs (with 'Linux-hardware' :)).

I do ;-)
Please add MEPIS to this poll.
MEPIS is another live distro that ships with your choice of NVidia or ATI drivers.
Choice of OSS of non OSS versions as well.

Yes, I agree, please add Mepis to this.
For me both Mepis and Kanotix of the ones I've tried are the best for hardware support.

Please add Slax. I don't have to do any configuration to get it to work.

Kanotix gets my vote...

Postby foobar » Fri Jul 15, 2005 10:59 am

I recently purchased a new Alienware system, decked out with AMD64, SATA hard drive, ATI Radeon card, and all that good stuff. But much to my dismay, I absolutely could NOT find a Linux distro that would work on it, and was stuck plunking around on WinXP Pro. :(

After trying literally 20 or so distros, I came across Kanotix from http://www.livecdlist.com/. I'd never heard of it before, but I was desperate and tried it out anyway and it worked like a dream.

Slax? It has good hardware support, but few bugs with it too.
Like support for WPA/WPA2. So, I vote for Ubuntu.
