Hi, I'll try to think about more polls...

Maybe you can create a poll about livecds more easy to costumize, to create a personal livecd from it... This is the great difference between linuxlive distros and others... it's very easy to recreate a new livecd using Slax, GoblinX, Mutagenix and this is an important stuff... it's my opinion... I have my own changed version of Slax and GoblinX
So, More Easy to Costumize [Personalize]

That's a great idea, I'll add it.

Also, how different are GoblinX and Mutagenix to customize vs. SLAX?

Hi, I didn't test Mutagenix yet, Slax has a program called myslaxcreator for windows... you can costumize slax with this program very easy...
GoblinX has a program (scripts) for linux called goblixlive for costumize either...
But you don't need any program, just open the ISO file and change/include files or modules... very easy... It's possible to change everything...
GoblinX and Slax are creating scripts to costumize modules, too, so any user will be able to open a module to remove and/or include applications into it...

Well ... regarding easily customizable livecds ... I think that there should be included only BASE liveCDs in the list. I mean ... DSL is using knoppix base, kanotix is using knoppix base, Goblinx is using SLAX base etc...

If someone vote for Mutagenix or Goblinx, for example, then he is voting for ALL live CDs based on SLAX. And if someone votes for DSL, then the vote should go to Knoppix because it's the base of DSL.

I hope you understand.
In my opinion, you should include only livecds with own way to customize...

so remove:

Damn Small Linux (using knoppix base)
GoblinX (using slax)
Mutagenix (using slax)
Kanotix (using knoppix)
Feather Linux (using knoppix)

I'm sorry but you are wrong, GoblinX and Mutagenix are not based on Slax, are based on Slackware... As I said I didn't test Mutagenix yet, but GoblinX has its own program to customize livecd... and it includes some changes also in linuxlive... and many changed configurations in boot scripts found in /etc/rc.d...

Then Even Knoppix is based on Debian...

I'm trying to say that livecds based on other livecds should be conjuncted together.

But with SLAX it's discutable, because SLAX (created by Tomas Matejicek) is based on Slackware, and create by using Linux Live scripts (created by Tomas Matejicek also). GoblinX and Mutagenix are both based on the same thing - on Slackware and Linux Live scripts. So their customizability (if this word even exists) is THE SAME for all of them.

So if you wish to vote for Mutagenix, you will NEED to vote for all other LiveCDs created by using Linux Live scripts (www.linux-live.org), because all of them are _the same customizable_. If you vote for Mutagenix and can't vote for Goblinx, then it's not fair.

No, it's not THE SAME, you can say it's similar, but not the same... and a lot of people used one and never used other ones...
It's impossible vote for best livecd either because we haven't test all of them...
We vote for which we consider the best... and not for the best...
Almost all livecds are beased on other distro...
We can't vote for all livecds based on Slackware by using linux-live, we can vote for just one... or based on Debian, on Mandrake, on Fedora...
It's my opinion, we vote for livecds we like, not for the best of the best... maybe there is a livecd more customizable then GoblinX, or Slax, but I don't know...
Also, you have to consider votes for non-english users...

It's my opinion, but this way seems to me more fair then make this category like:
Easiest Customized Livecd Scripts...

I disagree with this too. For example, DSL has ways of customizing it that do not exist in Knoppix. Scripts written by the DSL people. While I do understand that many of these LiveCDs are derivates of others, many changes that have been made in the derivates affect the remastering process.

How about a poll on clustering live cds
I'm also of the opinion that dyne:bolic,Quantian and Mediainlinux should be included under the heading of clustering as all are equiped with openmosix.

What's happening here with the voting?
Kanotix, the second one Live CD in the list, is almost unknown. Where are those votes comming from? How could it be higher than Knoppix, which is kanotix based on?

Knoppix should be the number one, not because it's the best, but because it's the most famous ... but currently it has only 40 votes? Can't believe this...

It just has to do with people feeling strongly for the specific distros. People may have posted to the Kanotix forums to come vote, and then a group of people arrive and vote. Knoppix users are free to do this too. Also, the Kanotix forums have almost 5,000 users, which may be the second largest distro-specific LiveCD forum on the web (behind Knoppix.net).
