ComputerWorld describes how to test different Linux distros by using LiveCDs. It also warns IT staff that if they allow booting from a CDROM drive, the "security" controls the installed OS has will be circumvented. In a corporate environment this can be an issue, but if the host OS has decent security in the first place, such as an encrypted hard drive, this isn't an issue.
