Help! Anyone know the sizes of Windows PE or avast! BART CD?

Postby nick » Sun Feb 27, 2005 3:19 pm

I've added Windows PE and avast! to the list under the "commercial" setting, but because they are commerical, I have not been able to download them. If anyone knows their ISO sizes, please let me know, and I will update the list. Thanks!

Hi
MS Lawyers and representatives said that Windows PE and Mini PE are illegal.

Is this true or not?

There is a screenshot of MiniPE from Sourceforge:

Well, PE can't be illegal, MS has info on in on their website. But it appears it is onlyavailable to large corporations.

I'm sure it is illegal to distribute, all of the PE and BART websites only proved scripts to create LiveCDs, but not actual ISOs. Providing downloadable ISOs of the LiveCDs is probably equal to providing Windows for download, and would bring down the wrath of Microsoft's lawyers.

Hello,
Free software vendors can use Windows PE to construct customized, automated solutions for recovering and rebuilding computers running Windows Vista. For example, users can start their computers from Windows PE recovery CDs or recovery partitions to automatically reformat their hard disks and to reinstall Windows Vista with the original drivers, settings, and applications.
