Recommendations for Linux LiveCD - Linksys w54g (ACX111)

Postby snetvil » Thu Dec 22, 2005 9:13 am

I'm searching through the available distributions and am looking for a distribution with support for the Linksys pcmcia w54g card with ACX111 chipset.

I tried the Gentoo livecd and really liked the portages update/emerge functionality but, would really like to install a distro that I don't have to download and hack around with beta drivers to get my wireless card up and running. I realize that may not be possible right now but, figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

So, is there any distro that has Gentoo's user-friendly flexibility AND has the driver for ACX111 pcmcia cards already in the distro? I'll keep searching through the list but, any suggestions are more than welcome.

The goal is desktop/os replacement on my dell inspiron 6000 laptop.

Thanks,
Scott

You could try RR4 or RR64, they seem to have newer kernels than the offical Gentoo CDs.
