Hi All,

I am new to Linux live on CD. Hi every people here.

I have downloaded Knoppix live on CD version 3.4 (700MB) and burned it to a CDROM. I have 2 laptops, one is my company laptop (Compaq: CPU Intel 4 2.0 GH, 512M Ram, DVD/CDRW) and other is my laptop (Acer: CPU Intel Celeron 2.6GH, 256M Ram, CDRom).

I have tried Knoppix live on CD 3.4 on my company laptop. It worked and I am so interested with Knoppix live on CD. I can even boot from harddisk (which store the same CD boot image) to free CD Rom for other purposes.

Unfortunately, the same Knoppix boot CD didnot work on my laptop.
I have tried to workaround by using any combine of Knoppix cheat codes: i.e knoppix atapicd nopcmcia nousb ... no verything, even I used failsafe or vga=normal or text mode... but too bad, my laptop was still hang at the time it boot from Knoppix live CD. (can not see Linux penguin symbol) :-(

So I decide to search on the net, to see any other linux live on CD sources. I found www.frozentech.com/content/livecd.php list down a lot of Linux live on CD. One of them is Linux Magazine miniCD, which is inherited from Knoppix. I want to try Knoppix (on Linux Magazine miniCD) another time because I am quite interested with what Knoppix can do on my company laptop.

Unfortunately again :-(, the website of Linux Magazine miniCD (www.flagar.com/en/linuxmag_minicd.html) didn't have any place to download the boot image.

From www.frozentech.com/content/livecd.php, I found this forum. Is there any body here can help me with either:

1. Show me how to workaround with Knoppix live on CD ver 3.4 on my laptop.

2. Show me where to download Linux Magazine miniCD.

Thanks in advance,

Seeker

Hi

LM MiniCD is distributed with the magazine, not online.

Please ask the publisher about back issue #35 (miniCD #1) and #38 (miniCD #2):

>Acer
Perhaps you can try noauto nofirewire pci=biosirq

Ask for tips from other users with similar laptops:
