New Guy and Question?

Postby richardljohnson » Fri Oct 08, 2004 10:32 am

I guess the newest guy to the forum. And, not wanting to reinvent the wheel I wanted to put out what I am trying to do and see if anyone else is doing this OR know where I can get some shortcuts.

I work for a Library and I am looking for a 'no mess' highly reduced live CD for some older systems for the public to have internet access. This would be consisting of a web browser, OpenOffice and some of the games. Nothing else and keeping it simple.

Anyone working on something close or know of a CD that would be close to this. I have toyed with the Live-CD for a few month and this looks like the best was so the 'hacker-wanabes' don't screw with the systems like they do the Windows units I currently use.

Thanks,
Richard-

Hi
See this link:

Perhaps you can try VectorLinux, or modify Knoppix distro.

>Ruining Windows PC
You can run LiveCD without any Hard Disk, if you have large RAM.
Turn off the PC, disconnect the hard disk cable and boot the PC with LiveCD.

Thanks. I'm starting to read on how to modify but not having done it before I am being a little careful.

Thanks for the Link.
