the live cd list should include a short description under each livecd name,
which show us what strong point that differentiate that distro from others.
for example, what make damnsmalllinux different from other livecd for desktop use?
it's fast & small, suiteable for old pc and got lots of extension.
something like that.
so we can better choose which to try first instead of blindly go download each distro and try them all...
tnx&rgds,
rex.

I'm planning on splitting the desktop category into several smaller ones (secure desktop, minimal desktop, etc), hopefully that will help to quickly differentiate distros, while the wiki and homepage links will provide more in depth detail.

imho,
we (at least i,) still like to have short description about the distro.
just one sentence that tell us what make it different.
even after you broken up desktop into small / secure /etc...
we still have many small distro. what make the small distro different from each other...??

Yeah, I see your point. It'll be difficult to add summaries for 280+ LiveCDs though, especially the ones in various languages, and those without home pages describing what they do. It may take a while before I get around to it.
wiki?

maybe...
if the whole list is in wiki, the community might be able to help a bit...
like the knoppix.net wiki seem to be nice...
but, problem will be when a distro is categorized into two/more category.
i'm not wiki expert either, i dont know if this can be solved...
