AEGIS

AEGIS (Arch Environmental/Geographical Information Systems) Project
AEGIS Homepage :: AEGIS FAQs
ISO: approx 400Mb, bittorrent downloads planned
Standalone pkgs currently available
i686 optimized
The main aim of the Arch Environmental/Geographical Information Systems (AEGIS) project is to create a live-cd distribution that provides a suite of the very latest, free, open-source GIS applications, sample data and other useful geographical and statistical tools, such as r and octave. We are a sub project of Arch Linux and a sister project of the Archie live-cd.
A provisional list of the included GIS software can be found here
The project is approaching an alpha release and we need testers with open-source GIS experience to put our GIS set up through it's paces. We will add frills and eyecandy later. XFCE will be the main interface. GIS functionality and live cd speed are our main concerns.
A simple hard disk install with increased functionality and full integration with Arch Linux is supported.
Primary development language is English but we would warmly welcome English as second language developers and translators.
