News: Gnome 2.10 Released with LiveCD

Gnome 2.10 was released today, along with a LiveCD that allows everyone to try it out without having to wait for package maintainers or new versions of the numerous Linux distros. Some KDE preview LiveCDs have surfaced too, is this the beginning of a move to Gnome and KDE Linux, where the distros take second place to the the desktop projects that can release a full Linux with the latest desktop environment months ahead of others?
