LiveCD from USB thumb drive?

Postby fcalise » Sun Nov 13, 2005 8:45 pm

Sorry I haven't had time to browse the forums yet, but is there a way to put a livecd image onto a usb thumb drive (if it's big enough of course). Wondering because I might be getting a mobile laptop that will not have an optical drive unless on the docking station.

Thanks.

Yes, several even have scripts that will install onto a thumb drive after booting from a LiveCD, like Damn Small Linux.

Puppy Linux offers a USB images of theirs, and others can simply have their files copied to the drive, and run "syslinux" on the drive to make it bootable. Pick your favorite and go search through their website or forums for instructions, you should be able to find them.
